After further thinking I realised that what I didn’t like about the generated code from GMF was the RCP stuff which provides very limited menus and views. You can of course tell gmfgen to not generate any RCP code, only the diagram code. Then you could use the GMF diagram plug-in in your own RCP framework.

Actually, perhaps all of the generated code is the problem? It may be possible to use the runtime API of GMF. But there is such a paucity of documentation.

I’m 50/50 between raw GEF and GMF. Both have their ups and downs. Perhaps Graphiti is the answer?
